Warning: This Article Contains Spoilers Below this Point It is possible to turn a blind corner right into the waiting arms of The Proxy, making the attack inescapable. The Proxy can appear from anywhere, usually from around a corner or out of immediate line of sight of the player. Faint footsteps can sometimes be heard, and the music begins to enter a very tense mode. There are only a few telltale signs of an impending attack, as the The Proxy does not cause any video or audio distortions. If the play can get enough distance from The Proxy, it will disappear, allowing a short breather before it's next attack. The only defense against The Proxy is to shine a concentrated beam of light from the flashlight (right clicking) to temporarily stun The Proxy long enough to escape. Most people do not survive more than two attacks, and those who do are temporarily crippled and cannot move fast. When seen in Part 3: Into the Abyss, The Proxy will chase the player relentlessly, attempting to corner the player and pounce, causing a great deal of harm. A Proxy can do what Slenderman cannot do by himself, namely manipulating objects, writing messages, and other things.
The Proxy is a human that has lost his/her mind to Slenderman, and now follows him blindly, through fear or devotion.
